I believe that volunteering has a favourable effect on depression, wellbeing and one’s overall life satisfaction. I can say this from experience.
In the UK today, we all live life in the fast lane. All of us are easily consumed by our perception of what life ‘should be’ and so we become oblivious to our lives plan and purpose. It becomes so tough at the top, that it is difficult to see the nose at the end of your face, let alone someone else’s loneliness and their lack of lust for life.
For me personally I have always been someone who instinctively ‘gives’, and this was apparent from such an early age. I have always been a kind of ‘Florence Nightingale’, character, helping anyone who crossed my path in life and needed some help; be it emotional, physical, mental, spiritual or financial.
