How can massage help my mental health?

On a personal note, I can honestly vouch for massage alleviating the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Both of which are very common mental health issues in todays’ rat race society!

When I suffered ‘reactive depression’ over 12 years ago now, I turned to holistic therapy to help me to overcome the ‘black dog’, anxiety and my incessant insomnia. Regular massage therapy helped to create a sense of mental and physical relaxation that my body, mind and soul needed to heal itself.

If you could help yourself via massage to reduce anxiety, feel relaxed and to enhance your mood, would you not simply try it?

Massage therapy has proven to be an effective method of dealing with mental health issues such as ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety and insomnia. Not only for myself but for hundreds of my clients who bless my door with their presence, on a daily basis, for self-healing holistically.

I can honestly say that adding a regular massage to your self-care ritual and or routine is a change for life that will be a game changer. Let us explore why:

  1. It will help to lower stress levels from work
  2. Massage therapy will enhance your mood
  3. It will give you a natural BOOST of energy, especially needed in these cold, dark winter months.
  4. Massage therapy is known and proven to reduce both depression and anxiety levels
  5. It will help to alleviate any pain from chronic illness and disease
  6. Massage therapy will help to aid muscle recovery, to speed this up!

Overall massage increases the release of endorphins. Endorphins, such as Serotonin and dopamine are naturally released during times of happiness and relaxation. People who are managing a mental health problem tend to have low levels of endorphins, as stress is known to affect the regulation of endorphins. Stress can be lowered and endorphins ‘boosted’ via one of my holistic massage sessions using ‘hands on healing’ therapy.

If you or a loved one is suffering, do not suffer in silence contact me today to book in for a session of self-healing and to increase your mental and overall wellbeing.
